Pause: Days 1 – 28
My 2010 “Video a Day” Project continues. I’ve replaced a few clips here and there, and updated it through today. I’m really starting to enjoy taking my short, daily video clips. It definitely forces me to think. Enjoy!

I discovered a very cool shadow tonight while having a glass of wine and listening to jazz. There’s a very good chance that no one in the world will think this video is cool, except me. And I am totally fine with that.
I remember the last few months of my grandfather’s life. His Alzheimer’s was progressing and his memories were fading. I remember him calling me “Linda” (my mother’s name) and asking me about how my day at school went. I remember how I felt, and thinking how precious memories truly are. I call myself a “life enthusiast,” and to me that has many meanings. I try to enjoy even the smallest of pleasures and treasure every day that I get on this planet. I’ve been blessed with so many wonderful memories. And it’s easy sometimes to forget how very lucky I am. I think that’s one of the reasons that I enjoy documenting my life so much. It’s why I’m constantly taking pictures, videos, and writing about my experiences. For me, it’s a tangible way of preserving my life.
I took the photo above some months ago, and forgot to post it on my site. As I was going through my photos just now, I stumbled upon it, and it brought back all the wonderful memories associated with the night I took it. Please enjoy the photo, and my updated “Video A Day” (days 1 – 23) project below. I enjoy them both immensely.
My 2010 “Video a Day” project continues. Days 1 – 19 are now available for your viewing pleasure!
I discovered a flying, squawking duck at the grocery store today and was compelled to bring it home with me. Enjoy the video I made of the fun that ensued once the duck made it home to my doggies.
My “Video a Day” Project continues. For at least 3 seconds every day, I force myself to pause. This one is dedicated to the wonderful girl in the elevator today, whose name I have forgotten (if you read this, please remind me!). She told me today that she enjoyed the project. And, well, that’s what it’s all about.
“The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.”
-Mark Twain“For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;”
-William Shakespeare, “Hamlet”, Act 3 scene 1
I am still working out the details of my 2010, “video a day” art project. I am still taking at least a 3 second video clip every day. I have decided on a sort of “thesis” for the project. The idea is “Pause.” Every day, I force myself to stop, pause, reflect, and take a short video clip about my experiences. Below is a very short (3 secs a piece) video, created from the first 9 days of my project in 2010. Enjoy.
As I mentioned in another post, I have resolved to take at least one short video every day in 2010. At the end of the year, I am planning to put all the video footage together into some cool video project. So far, I have only taken 4 videos in 2010. By my calculations, the final video should include a max of 3 seconds per day to make it manageable. So, here is a very short video clip of days 1-4 of my video project. No music, no frills. But hopefully this will turn into something very cool.
I just put together a movie out of random video footage all shot the last week of December, 2009 with my new Flip HD cam. Enjoy!
I woke up this morning to a lovely blanket of snow covering the world around me. From what I can guesstimate, it looks like we got about 8-14 inches of snow in the Brooklyn area, which apparently is not much compared to the surrounding areas of Long Island.
I have many fond memories of playing in the snow as a child, and I couldn’t resist the urge to venture out into the frozen tundra with my two doggies. After spending about 20 minutes preparing my feet, head, hands, doggy coats, leashes, toys and recording equipment, I made my way out into the white wonderland.
There is something about inclement weather and natural and unnatural disasters that really brings people together. I enjoyed saying hello to everyone who was shoveling out their driveways and digging out their cars. Even though people were working hard, they all had a smile on their face.
The wind had created snow drifts that reached almost 3 feet in some areas, which means that I literally had to wade through waist-high snow at some points. What would have normally been a 3 minute walk to the park ended up taking me about 20 minutes.
Although the large portion of the park was closed for the winter, the playground area was still open. So, Scope, Molly, Micah and I traversed the glaciers and had a blast playing with rope toys for a good bit.
Eventually we all made our way back home, and are currently de-thawing inside our warm apartment.

I can’t wait to go running in the snow banks!
