Pause is Back!!

So, I was super busy for a few days and forgot to take my daily videos for my “Pause: For 3 Seconds a Day” 2010 video project. I was going to just scrap the idea altogether but then I realized that there really was no need to do so. I could just pick up where I left off and simply exclude the days, on which I forgot to take a video. Yes, there will be “holes” in my daily project. Yes, that’s less than perfect. But beauty is in imperfection.

Enjoy my latest, updated video! I might soon be changing the style, but this is what I have so far!

I’m Into Endo

Robo trash

Just got home from my first “real” day of endocrinology. I worked at the endocrinology clinic at my hospital, did one consult, and rounded on all the patients. I just got home around 8:30 p.m. No, I really should not be complaining because I didn’t have to go in until 1:00 p.m., but I think I’m just spoiled from certain electives with “cake” hours. I actually learned a lot, too.

Since I moved 2 weeks ago to be closer to my residency hospital, I am now not within walking distance of the hospital at which I am doing my last rotation. This means that I actually have to DRIVE to the hospital. Drive? What’s that?!

Lost my undies

This experience has confirmed for me what I already knew: I am not a driver. In fact, I’m not a commuter, at all. I need to walk to my place of work. Not only is it a perfect way to de-stress, but it’s great exercise. Not only that, but I’ve realized that I take all of my best photos and videos during my walks! Who has time to take photos or videos when you’re zooming (or even not zooming) by all the wonderful things on your path?

Because of this, my daily photos have suffered, and so has my “2010 Video a Day” Project. I will either have to scrap the idea all together, or come up with some sort of creative solution.

Only 8 more days of actual work at the hospital, and then I am “qualified” to be a doctor. Life is very sweet.

Note: Photos are all “trashy” pics taken in Brooklyn a while back. As soon as I’m back to my daily walking again, I will post some trashy photos from my new ‘hood.

Pause: For 3 Seconds a Day

My 2010 “Video a Day” Project continues with days 1 – 74. I’ve only missed two days so far. Not too shabby. Also, I have made some edits, including reversing the order (get to see the new stuff first, now), and adding another song at the end. The project continues to grow, evolve, and awkwardly mutate, just like me.

“Pause” Continues

My “Pause: For 3 Seconds a Day 2010 Video Project” continues. Yes, I did forget to take one video on day 58. But I’m happy to announce that I’ve been doing well otherwise. My next video post might be drastically different. I’m working out different artistic permutations for this project. Anyhoo, enjoy days 1 – 63 for now!

More Pee and Poop

Hyperbaric medicine

I wish I had the motivation right now to give you a wonderful, concise list of “stuff learned” during my pediatrics rotation. But alas, I’m just too pooped to do so. I had pediatrics clinic today, which I loved! So, just for fun, here is a very incomplete, random list of stuff I’ve learned thus far:

How to perform a pediatric H&P. How to examine a newborn. Vaccination schedules. Stickers/stuffed animals are your friends. What HSP looks like. How to calculate IVF for kiddies. Positions for breastfeeding. How to perform a well child check-up. How to deal with parents’ concerns. How much babies should be consuming/pooping/peeing. How to test for developmental milestones. And much, much more!

During clinic today, a mother was shocked to learn that I was not the pediatrician. She told me that I seemed like such a natural with the kiddies, that she assumed I’d been doing this for years. How great that made me feel!

I just ate an entire box of Russell Stover chocolates (they were on sale at the hospital…I couldn’t turn it down!), and I’m about to take my doggies for their walk in the pouring rain. I have a lot of thoughts to share, but not the energy to do so. I promise to write more soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy my updated “Pause: For 3 Seconds a Day” video project (days 1 – 54)!

Pause: Days 1 – 47

My “2010 Video a Day” Project continues. I’ve updated to days 1-47. Enjoy!

Pause: Days 1 – 41

My 2010 “Video a Day” Project continues. I’ve updated the project with new days and changed the music and a few other details. I’ve now discovered that I really like 2 things about this project:

1) It forces me to stop and think for at least 3 seconds a day (but really more than that because I’m always contemplating cool stuff to video).

2) I am enjoying the evolutionary process of creating the compilation video.

Enjoy!

Pause: Days 1 – 36

My 2010 “Video a Day” Project continues. Enjoy!

Pause: Days 1 – 28

My 2010 “Video a Day” Project continues. I’ve replaced a few clips here and there, and updated it through today. I’m really starting to enjoy taking my short, daily video clips. It definitely forces me to think. Enjoy!

I remember the last few months of my grandfather’s life. His Alzheimer’s was progressing and his memories were fading. I remember him calling me “Linda” (my mother’s name) and asking me about how my day at school went. I remember how I felt, and thinking how precious memories truly are. I call myself a “life enthusiast,” and to me that has many meanings. I try to enjoy even the smallest of pleasures and treasure every day that I get on this planet. I’ve been blessed with so many wonderful memories. And it’s easy sometimes to forget how very lucky I am. I think that’s one of the reasons that I enjoy documenting my life so much. It’s why I’m constantly taking pictures, videos, and writing about my experiences. For me, it’s a tangible way of preserving my life.

I took the photo above some months ago, and forgot to post it on my site. As I was going through my photos just now, I stumbled upon it, and it brought back all the wonderful memories associated with the night I took it. Please enjoy the photo, and my updated “Video A Day” (days 1 – 23) project below. I enjoy them both immensely.
