I’m rather tired now, and don’t feel like writing a long post. But I wanted to let everyone know that I will be posting more “stuff learned” very soon. I really do enjoy gastroenterology.
Last night, Midori and I went on a fun doggy walk/neighborhood exploration/photographic excursion. I have a bunch of awesome pics to post, but I don’t feel like sorting through them right now, so please enjoy this very awesome one right now.
Also, I have a received many comments on my recent Medscape post, “That Is So Gay.” I have A LOT to say about all these comments, but right now I will comment on one item. 20% of people have responded to my poll saying that racist and homophobic comments in the medical setting do not bother them at all. REALLY?! I mean, REALLY?! These are my colleagues. It makes me incredibly sad.

i didnt get a chance to read that post on racial/homophobic slurs in the workplace…i need some lame prescription to medscape, and well you know me!!! i sooo lazy. so LISTEN, tell me what people said!
and oh oh…im not at all surprised the 20% said they werent bothered….i have daily discourses with these people and it does one of the two things…gives me a headache or makes the my rotation less boring. raging idiots!! haha.

It doesn’t surprise me that 20% don’t see it as a problem. I would think the number would be higher. I tend to see that many doctors are conservative and republican (NOT ALL) and they feel the way they do for whatever reason.
Its just sad to me because these same people will be treating patients of all races and sexual orientations. I would hate to have a doctor that hated Indian Lesbians…..actually I did once in college and she made me feel horrible and ugly. I never went back.
yeah seriously. I have not figured out what is wrong with people and their distaste for homosexuals or other races. Maybe it is a competitive thing. Men don’t like having “their women” stolen by other women and vice versa. What ever the case, doctors are only human and i guess so far the general opinion about these issues just has not evolved into something more sophisticated. In other words, people are dumb and have dumb opinions most times.
