Bye Bye Birdie

I saved a birdie this morning! This morning, on my way back from walking my dogs, I found a little baby bird in the hallway of our apartment building. It was crying and looked distressed. I looked around and didn’t see its nest, or its parents anywhere close by. I think maybe it fell in through a hole in the window. So, I picked it up with a towel and brought it inside my apartment. I called the animal wildlife rescue, but it was an hour drive away, so they told me to take it to an animal hospital in the city, about 20 minutes away. Micah and I got in the truck and transported the little guy to the hospital. They’re supposed to take the bird to the wildlife shelter later today.

I’ve probably rescued over a hundred animals in my life, and I always feel good about it. Sometimes I wonder if some higher force makes sure that I find the little critters, just because it’s a sure thing that I’ll do my best to save it. I’m glad that I found this bird, and I’ll definitely miss him. Saving animals makes me feel good, but at the same time it makes me feel guilty. I started eating meat a few years ago, and I can’t help but feel like a hypocrite at times. Yes, I saved this little bird, and he’ll hopefully make it back out into the wild. But I ate chicken a few days ago. That bird never had a chance. Anyway, I guess you have to pick your battles. Even though I do currently eat meat, I try to do so sparingly, and I have a feeling that I’ll go back to being 100% vegetarian again in the future.

Anyway, bye bye birdy, and have a good life!

Aww… what a cute little guy. Good thing he found you! Otherwhise, who knows? I’m glad someone else out there cares for the helpless. It’s amazing how some people feel nothing for a sick, injured, or lost animal. I think if you can care about a little bird or any other animal that crosses your path, I having a feeling you’ll make a great doctor. :)
