Dear Mr./Mrs. notme@ross.edu
Dear Mr./Mrs. notme@ross.edu,
I wish that I could communicate with you via email or otherwise, but you never leave your contact information. I doubt that you’ll actually read this, because you haven’t yet paid any attention to what I’ve written in any of my other posts. For the other people reading this, here is the story behind this letter: Someone (notme@ross.edu) keeps spamming my blog with the same comment, over and over. At first, I thought it was just a concerned reader, so I wrote a nice comment back and even wrote an entire entry towards answering their questions. It seems that they are concerned with the salaries of Ross employees. Well, so am I! I wanted to have a good conversation with the writer of the comment, but they never replied back to my comments, and they never leave an email address. Mr./Mrs. notme@ross.edu, you wrote in your comment to talk to the security guards and the cleaning ladies at Ross. Well, I do! Everyday, actually! I know many of the employees on a first name basis.
Mr./Mrs. notme@ross.edu, I applaud the fact that you have a cause, and that you are trying to do something about it, but I’m not sure if you’re going about it in the best manner. Instead of spamming my site over and over, why not send me an email, or respond to my comments? It’s better to have a conversation about an issue than to simply copy and paste the same words over and over. For example, if you were protesting somewhere with a sign in your hand, and the person who actually might be able to do something about your concern came out and said, “hey, let’s talk about it.” Would you simply ignore them and keeping walking around with your sign? That is what you have done to me. And honestly, I don’t think it’s very fair.
Please note that I did not delete your first comment. I left it, and in fact responded with both a comment and a post. But when you began leaving the same copy and pasted comment several times a day, I started deleting it, because at that point it was just spam, and it was obvious to me that you weren’t listening to anything I was saying.
I am very curious as to why you have never left your email address. In fact, notme@ross.edu, is a strange email address to pick, because that’s not even the correct domain name for Ross University. I would really like to know more about you and your concerns. I have a presence on the Internet, and have chosen to expose myself to the world on a first and last name basis. I don’t always say what everyone wants me to, and I am happy that I have at least somewhat free speech. If you want to be heard, I suggest you do the same. Let people know who you are, and how you know what you know. I believe it will only help your cause, and will make you a much more reliable source of information.
There is one last issue that I’d like to address with you. You copy and pasted that same comment onto my entry on Medscape about finding a lump in my breast. I am not an easily offended person, but you have offended me. In that post, I was sharing something very personal with the world about my health, and you defaced the post with your canned comment. If you really wanted to address your issue, why didn’t you post your comment on one of my entries about PHR? To me, you have done the equivalent of creating an anti-war protest outside the funeral of my grandmother, who had nothing to do with the war. It’s simply rude.
That being said, I am not mad at you. I am still willing to talk to you and have an intelligent conversation. I’m open to your concerns, and in fact am a very active member of my school community. If something really needs to be done, I will help you champion your cause. I, too, don’t like to quietly sit around when I know that people are being wronged.
I very much hope you take the time to read this post, and please do email me or comment back.
Sincerely,
Kendra Campbell

I say IP ban them.
You pay for this, they’re jerking you around. You’ve made yourself a presence, and you’ve done it in a way which shows kindness and fairness.
I imagine they’ll do what they’ve been doing- Being thoughtless jerks. Some folks are just like that. Hey, I’m glad to hear you’re kicking ass and taking names on the minis!!! Keep up the great work!
This sounds like “mylifeatdominica” from valuemd forums who was banned for being a complete idiot. i agree with the above person in that you should IP ban them. They have no clue what they are talking about.
what was the comment
yea, what was the comment? are you a communist dictator? you can say whatever you want, but where was the comment that you deleted many times?
You can read the two comments on this post: http://www.islandmedstudent.com/home/2007/01/15/physicians-for-human-rights/
And no, I’m afraid I’m not a communist dictator. Though, that would be pretty entertaining to imagine.
I didn’t delete the original comment. I only deleted the comment when they kept posting the same one over and over again.
Kendra
i am not an idiot. the original one was deleted several times. and i tried to post it on the med student blog, it was also deleted several times.

=================
Students are paying a ridiculously high tuition of $12125/semester, 3 times a year. And how much are the local employees getting paid? They are certainly not getting paid by the same US standard. Don’t say that they deserve that, if your parents are working for Ross right now, would you say that?!
There are many Caribbeans schools in the region, look at SGU, AUC, SJU, those islands’ living conditions are much better, their local employees certainly won’t get paid at such low wages.
That is the basic human right for equal pay. Why are they wasting their time talking about nonsense! come on, get a life, if you want to join an organization for human rights, at least look at your own backyard, look at the school that you are attending which is exploiting local employees since 1980′s. While the Ross shareholders are getting richer and richer, the local employees still can’t afford to buy a car or a decent house to live. Go talk to the security guard, the cleaning ladies, the secretaries, ask them if they are happy with what they are getting! Do they feel that they are being treated fairly by the school?! Don’t call them lazy, etc, they are not being paid well, so why should they work hard?!
So I suggest you should stop fighting for human rights outside of Dominica, ask Ross to pay its local employees the same amount of salaries that the people are getting paid in the US. Stop the exploitation! that is not right, that is not what every humane person should do!
