Dogs Gone Wild
One of the issues with being a med student in a surgery rotation living in Brooklyn in a studio apartment with two dogs is that I have to leave them home alone for long hours sometimes. I always take them on two long walks a day, and I try to give them lots of love and play time, but they sometimes end up bored out of their minds, and they take their stress out on my belongings. Today, I came home to find my new package of 8 rolls of toilet paper completely torn to shreds all over my apartment. I guess I asked for it!
I forgave them and cleaned up the mess and then decided to go for a run with them. I have been so busy lately that I have neglected my body and haven’t been exercising like I used to. My diet has also suffered as of late. I’ve been too tired to cook, and have been eating lots of take-out. So, today I decided to ignore my fatigue and go for a 6 mile run. All I can say is hell yeah! I remember why I love running. It clears my lungs, mind, and spirit. I’m so tired right now, but I feel like a million bucks. One thing for sure is that I think I’ll always take my doggies with me when I run in this neighborhood. I got about a million catcalls, but no one actually came up to me, and I think it was because of my “scary” looking dogs. Okay, they aren’t mean at all, but people don’t know that. And Molly has a vicious bark.
I can’t wait to go on another run! And hopefully I wore them out enough today so that they’ll not shred something more expensive tomorrow!
