The Good, the Bad and the Frustrated
I’m currently sitting at a bar in downtown San Francisco. The long story short is that Micah had to come to San Fran to attend a Mac Geek conference, so I decided to tag along. We got in last night and stayed the night with my friend Dav in Berkley. This morning we got up and rode the BART to San Francisco. Micah and I grabbed some coffee and then he headed to the conference to see Steve Jobs give the keynote address. I stayed behind at the coffee shop to play on the Internet until he got back.
A long and VERY very painful story short? I spent an hour and a half going from coffee shop to coffee shop trying to find a place to pee and use the Internet. I couldn’t find either. WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS CITY???!!!
Okay, I had to get that out. I was frustrated, to say the least. I finally gave up hope on coffee shops and walked several blocks down the street to find another place with Wifi. After many failed attempts, I finally found the pace I’m currently sitting at.
It’s a little Irish pub called the Chieftain. I ordered a bloody mary and cracked open my laptop. The Wifi worked right away. Maybe this was a sign that I should be drinking bloody marys, and not coffee. I don’t know. All I know is that I now feel much better putting my frustration into words, and posting it online.
Perhaps the bloody mary helped a bit as well.
Anyway, I will be in San Fran until Thursday night. I hope the rest of my experiences are a little nicer. I guess I am such an Internet (and urination) addict, that I turn into a psycho-crazed woman when I am denied both. Lesson learned.
Photos and stories to follow soon!

that is weird. how do the coffee shops expect to get customers? weird city! anyhow, see u next weekend chica.
What part of the city were you in? In a lot of it, there’s a Starbucks on every street corner. Of course Tmobile wants like $5 for an hour, but still it’s nice to know it’s there if you really really need a fix. I’m originally from there and didn’t discover the amazingly beautiful concept of Free WiFi until I left. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to switch the other direction…
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the comment. I was in downtown San Fran, close to the Moscone Center. Actually, the problem was just that every place I went had Internet that wasn’t working for some reason or anther. But luckily, I found free WiFi at a bar.
And I had fun the rest of the time!
