Leaving Dominica
It’s official. I’m audi here. After much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to leave Dominica for good. My semester ends on April 11, and I’ll be flying out on April 15. I will miss every little detail of this island, including all of the annoyances. It’s been a gift living here. I don’t look forward to the crazy consumerism and all the other things that bother me about the States, but I have to admit that I am looking forward to the sushi. The pic is my countdown widget. I can’t believe I’ll soon be saying goodbye to my beautiful home!
My name is Kendra and I am a fourth-year medical student attending
Awesome! Where are you going now?
Which school will attend in the US?
You can get sushi in Dominica. It just takes a little effort to find out how.
I’ve thought about transferring, but most likely I’ll continue with Ross University. They have rotations in hospitals all over the US. I’m trying to get placed in the DC/Baltimore area, since that’s my hometown. We shall see if that works out. I’ll post a longer blog soon, which explains how my school works.
Oh, and Mr. Me, please tell me how to get sushi!
Hopefully everything would work out the way you want it to.
Kendra
I just what to say thank you for your blog. It has been very informative about Ross U. and the there. Saturday I went to a seminar presentation in Chicago about come to Ross. Hopefully next year, maybe Jan. or May, I will be following your foot steps. Your insight and information you have given over the months, has been priceless.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
Good luck.
I met a Dr. Heath who has just Graduate from Ross and starting his Res. in Maryland in pathology.

Sadness in 44 days. I am going to miss you so much. But, we still have time together back home.
Hi Kendra,
Just wondering – Why were you thinking about transferring? I have read that Ross students are having a hard time getting their core clinical rotations – have you found that to be the case?
Hi Katie,
No, that’s not the reason. I was just thinking that it would be different to transfer to a new school. But after a lot of thought, I realized that I’m quite happy with Ross. And to answer your question, no I have not found that to be the case. For more details, see this entry: http://www.islandmedstudent.com/home/2007/05/05/ross-clinical-clerkships/
