Red Tape in Dominica
The other day I went to our Pharmacology department on campus to get some handouts for the course. Here is the synopsis of the event:
(Kendra walks in and looks at lady #1 behind the counter.)
Kendra: Hi, can I please get the Pharmacology handouts for class?
Lady #1: You have to talk to the secretary.
(Kendra pauses and waits for more information.)
*birds chirping*
Kendra: Okay, well can you tell me where I can find the secretary?
Lady#1: She’s over there.
(Lady #1 points to Lady #2, sitting less than two feet away.)
(Kendra turns to Lady #2)
Kendra: Hi, can I please get the Pharmacology handouts?
Lady #2: They’re right there.
(Lady #2 points to the pile of papers in front of Lady #1.)
(Kendra picks up papers.)
Kendra: Thanks, and aren’t there other handouts as well?
(Lady #2 points to second pile of papers, right beside the first.)
Lady #2: Yes, they are there.
Kendra: Thanks very much!
