Rod Stewart, Isn’t it Ironic?
For those of you who don’t know the latest Kendra hair saga, I got my hair cut and colored while I was in the States a month ago. Since I have to visit the hospital this semester and look “professional” (okay, you all know I have a lot to say about that), I figured I would get a “normal” haircut. Now, for those of you who know me, “normal” is not something that I’m fond of. In fact, I haven’t had a hair color within the spectrum of human colors since I was about 16. That’s over ten years since I have seen my natural hair color.
I specifically requested to have my hair color be “dark brown” with “bright blonde” chunks. Well, that’s not exactly how it turned out. Also, the cut didn’t come out exactly as I planned either. Needless to say (especially because my hair is so special to me), I was not a happy camper when I walked out of the salon. Actually, my first impression was that I looked like a MILF who was going through a sexual identity crisis.
But, since then, I have learned to accept my hair, though I constantly get requests from people I know and from total strangers to, “bring back the color.” Anyhoo, I’ll save that rant for another day. Let’s get to the point here.
The point is that tonight, as I looked in the mirror, it struck me that I actually did not resemble a MILF, but rather, someone even more egregious. I look like Rod Stewart. That’s right folks, in 8 months I’ve gone from Sisserou Parrot Girl to Rod Stewart Girl. It’s kind of like ten thousand spoons when all you need is knife.
So, above is the before pic, and below is the after pic. Sisserou Parrot to Rod Stewart. (Sorry for the crappy Photoshopping, but hey, I’m not a prostetional at this.) So, what do you think? Is it like a free ride when you’ve already paid? If I listened long enough to you, I’d find a reason to believe.

My name is Kendra and I am a fourth-year medical student attending
Actually you look very pretty. You do wear the colored hair very well but true sassiness comes from within and shines through the most “normal” look. Murray’s hair wax is the perfect remedy for taming short hair, waxy but not greasy.
Mom, you’re embarassing me!
K, I loved it before, but I totally understand the necessity of getting a more mainstream cut & color. That said, I think the new ‘do looks great. Don’t stress about it; its the perfect combo of stylish & professional. It just looks weird to you because you’re not used to it yet.
Kendra,
Love it and now I want that cut for myself. ITA with what others responses to you.
Thank you.
Jessica
your ‘professional’ hair looks awesome. this is just something you have to do the closer you get to the wards. its been a long time since the island, but i still run in to people during rotations that say ‘dude, bring back the hawk.’ but those days are long gone, and i dont want to attract any attention or receive unnecessarily excessive pimping from the attendings just because i stick out. but do what you gotta do. your personality will make its self evident in other ways.
I love your hair no matter what shape, length or color.
I used to be called rod steward all the time by grandma (cannot see anything) when my hair was short. But Rod sings “if you want my body and you think Im sexy come on baby let me know”
well baby…I will always think you are sexy!!!!
ps. I get my dog july 1st..anytime you coming back to the states…we can check out my bathroom…..
