This is Why I’m an Island Med Student
I just finished taking my third big exam. I know I didn’t get an A in every subject, but I’m pretty sure I passed everything. I now have 10 days to study for my last exam – the Final. I’m currently sitting on the beach, staring into the sea. I just went for a swim, and I still have the salty taste of the water on my lips. I’m sipping on my celebratory glass of white wine and smiling on the inside and outside. The sound of the waves crashing on the darkened sand is helping to calm me down from my post-test high. Right now, I am very happy that I chose to attend a medical school in the Caribbean. It’s December, and it’s in the 70′s here. I just can’t imagine decompressing after a huge exam without having an empty beach to use as a shelter. Coming back to the States is going to be a harsh dose of reality. But for now, I’m not going to worry about the next step in my medical education. I’m just going to enjoy my beach and coconuts.
